Russian commander is sure of chechen terrorist leader's death

Commander of the North Caucasus Military District Colonel General Gennady Troshev is "completely sure" that the Chechen terrorist leader Shamil Basayev is dead, but there is no evidence. As it was disclosed to journalists on Wednesday by the Commander, "there were no convincing proves of Basayev's death, and it would be hard to find any." According to the General, Basayev's squad was hit with a shellfire, and only four terrorists survived as a result. One of them was arrested by the Federal Army and said that Basayev was killed by an exploded shell, and there was no chance to find any parts of his body, Troshev stated. Basayev has been repeatedly reported dead, and every time he managed to slip away from the Federal Army and continued to control terrorist operations in Chechnya, which was proved by recent terrorist acts in the Republic.
