Over 330 Tons Of Oil Confiscated In Chechnya During A Special Operation

The staffers of the provisional and permanent interior departments of Chechnya have confiscated 334 tons of oil and 1,083.2 tons of oil products in the course of a special operation codenamed "Chechen oil." The press service of the Main Department for Combating Economic Crimes of Russia reported on Thursday that the operation in the republic, which had been planned by the department, lasted five days. The press-service reports that about 100 vehicles have been detained for illegally transporting oil, fuel and lubricating materials. Apart from that, 1,481 facilities of the fuel and power complex of the Chechen Republic and adjacent territories were checked during the operation. Within its framework 42 criminal cases were opened and 1,055 records of proceedings on administrative offences drawn up. The press service noted that such operations will be carried out in future, too. They will be directed at stopping thefts of oil and ensuring the security of the oil complex of the republic.
