Militants Might Stage Terrorist Acts Now That The Chechen Government Is Moving To Grozny

Now that the Chechen government is moving from Gudermes to the Chechen capital, Grozny, the militants of Arbi Barayev are planning acts of terrorism and subversion. According to the regional operational staff of Russia for the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, the terrorists plan to stage their acts in the vicinity of the Central Market of Grozny, in Pervomaiskaya Street and somewhere near City Hospital No. 9. The source in the staff says a bandit group of four or five men will be deployed in six houses around the hospital. They are equipped with firearms with silencers, dressed in civilian and carry militia patrol cards. Each group has a cameraman with a camcorder. The source said the bandits had established "good relations" with market traders, city barbers and owners of catering establishments, who pledged their support and a safe hiding place after the terrorist acts. RIA also learned in the operational staff that the greatest terrorist activities were registered in the Leninsky District of Grozny and in the Gudermes and Kurchaloi districts of Chechnya.
