Russia Shares U.N. Reaction To Albanian Extremists' Activity

Russia fully shares and supports the tough reaction of the UN /United Nations/ Security Council to the continuous terrorist activities of Albanian extremists and separatists. The Russian Foreign Ministry's statement forwarded to RIA Novosti says as much. The statement was issued in connection with the Security Council's sharp denunciation of violence committed by armed Albanian extremists in northern Macedonia. It refers in part to Albanians' attack on Macedonia's military and police officers, leaving eight dead and seven wounded. Importantly, the UN member states condemned everybody who resorts to violence and terror, supports extremism, creates tensions, challenges norms of international law, tries to hamper democratisation and reconciliation in Macedonia, stresses the statement. As the document points out, Moscow is confident that only resolute moves of the international community, running on resolutions 1244, 1345 and others of the UN Security Council, which confirm sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Balkan states, can thwart further expansion of terror and militant extremism.
