Tajikistan: Russian Frontier Guards Kill 3 In Skirmish, Find Secret Arsenal

Three armed men were apprehended by Pyanj frontier unit patrols last night in an attempt to penetrate Tajikistan from Afghanistan across the Pyanj river. All three died in a skirmish, report Russian Frontier Service Tajik contingent PR. Another Russian patrol came across a cachet with a Chinese-manufactured recoilless artillery piece in the territory guarded by the Kalai-Khub frontier unit yesterday. Two similar pieces were found on the same frontier stretch within April. An attempt to smuggle ten tonnes of aluminium was thwarted at the Kara-Kul frontier checkpoint yesterday in a KAMAZ lorry following from Kyrgyzstan. The driver, a Kyrgyz national, and the confiscated cargo are at the frontier outpost for investigation.
