Over Three Days Federal Interior Troops Were Attacked 28 Times By Militants In Chechnya

Over the last three days in Chechnya, units of the federal Interior Ministry have been subjected to 28 attacks by militants. Seven policemen have got wounds. On Monday the RIA Novosti was told at the headquarters of the united force of the federal Interior Ministry in the North Caucasian region that unidentified persons fired from automatic rifles at the federal checkpoint Kavkaz-3, located on the eastern border of the Assinovskaya stanitsa /village/ in the Achkhoi-Martan district. A policeman, aged 27, got wounded in the hip. In the town of Argun, an automobile hit a remote-controlled land mine. That vehicle was taking OMON (the special-purpose police) policemen returning from their shift in the accompaniment of a fire-support group. A policemen, aged 23, was put to hospital with the "open brain trauma" and fragmentation-wound diagnosis. In the Leninski district of the Chechen capital, Grozny, a Ural truck of the OMON hit a remote-controlled land mine near the Krasny Molot factory. 39-year-old commander of the OMON group was hospitalised. An unidentified bomb blasted during an engineer reconnaissance of the territory of a checkpoint on the edges of the Kurchaloi village. On Pervomaiskaya street in Grozny, a remote-controlled land mine put in a sewerage duct was blasted. A police lieutenant, 25, got fragmentation wounds, an Ural truck was damaged. Approximately 300 meters off a checkpoint on Khankalskaya street in Grozny, a remote-controlled bomb was blasted in a concrete police shelter. As a result of the explosion, two police officers got wounds and one was put to hospital. In all these attacks law enforcers opened reciprocating fire.
