Chechen Rebels Fire At Governmental, Local Administrative Buildings

In Chechnya militants keep firing at buildings of governmental bodies and local administrations. On Monday the RIA Novosti was told at the headquarters of the united force of the federal Interior Ministry in the North Caucasian region that on the night of April 28, a complex of governmental buildings of the Chechen republic got under fire in its capital, Grozny. According to the headquarters, three grenades from fired from throwers about 300-400 meters off. One of the grenades exploded in the territory of a cantonment. In the blast, two officials from a governmental department got slight wounds and were taken to the hospital. Guards opened reciprocating fire. Work to search and detain criminals has begun. Another incident happened on the night of April 26 in the Vedeno village. A blast there partially destroyed a two-storY brick building of the local administration. At the moment of the explosion, guards were found outside and examining the territory adjacent to the building. No killed or wounded have been reported. It was preliminarily established that a powerful bomb exploded on the first floor under the staircase. The prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case. As was established after the explosion, unidentified persons found in a car were video taping the scene.
