The State Duma /the lower house of the Russian parliament/ has organised parliamentary hearings in Kislovodsk, the North Caucasus, to discuss the legal status and life support of Chechen forced migrants and prospects for their return and accommodation in the Chechen Republic. The hearings are attended by Duma deputies, officials from the apparatus of the Russian presidential plenipotentiary in the South federal district and representatives of the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Nationalities and Migration Policy. Participants in the hearings have voiced the necessity to urgently adopt a federal migration policy concept and fund migration programmes in full. They point to the need to extend social aid to all categories of forced migrants and adopt a special programme which would secure return homeland to residents of the Chechen Republic.
