Federals Destroy Illegal Arms Market In Chechnya

Russia's Interior Ministry troops destroyed Monday an illegal arms market located in the village of Chiri-Yurt, Chechnya's Shali district. As RIA Novosti knows from republican lawenforcement agencies, the market offered various kinds weapons, including portable anti-aircraft complexes "Strela" which cost up to $800 per piece, with missiles being sold at $1500. Military reports say the militant leaders have no funds to purchase enough arms, ammunition and military hardware, with the ranks getting increasingly displeased with their pays. The militants' accomplices among the locals are reported to offer drugs to servicemen of the Shali commandant's office in exchange for their officers' addresses aiming to bring pressure to bear on them.
