Russian Border Guards Prevented Two Attempts To Violate Tajik-Afghan Border

Russian border guards in Tajikistan have prevented two attempts to violate the Tajik-Afghan border. According to information received by RIA Novosti from the press-service of the Russian border-guard contingent in Tajikistan, on Sunday evening an violator was detained on the section controlled by the Sokhcharv outpost. The violator who was swimming across the Pyandzh did not put up resistance. He was arrested; the criminal case has been opened. On the same day border guards detected on the section controlled by the Pyandzh frontier post a group of six Afghans, who grazed their cattle on the territory of Tajikistan. As the border guards approached, those unidentified persons fled to Afghanistan. When searching the area, the guards found an automatic rifle, five magazines for the rifle, and 120 7.2-mm cartridges.
