Criminal Proceedings Instigated Against Milosevic's Daughter

A decision was made to open a criminal case against the daughter of former president of Yugoslavia Slobodan Milosevic, Maria, Gordan Mihailovic, the chairman of the community court of Belgrade, whose judge made such a decision, reported on Thursday. Shortly before, Maria Milosevic was heard in the court in the presence of her lawyer after which the judge decided to begin investigation. This means that testimonies will be gathered for a possible launching of an accusation, explained the court chairman. Maria Milosevic is accused of perpetrating a crime connected with the violation of law on weapons and ammunition of the Republic of Serbia. During the arrest of her father on April 1, this year, Maria made several shots from a pistol (to which she had the permission of the interior ministry) and thus "threatened the life of people". Apart from this, she had another pistol for the possession of which she did not have a corresponding permission. As far as Slobodan Milosevic himself is concerned, his lawyer Tom Fila says that "the dynamic" hearing of witnesses on the case of the ex-president continues. Their names are not reported in the interests of the investigation. The lawyer pointed out that the state of health of Slobodan Milosevic has not changed, he has a high blood pressure. He said this in the court and now awaits that the investigator will decide to carry on the investigation.
