Three land mines defused in Grozny

Three land mines have been defused in Grozny (the Chechen Republic) over the past 24 hours. According to a report released by the RF Interior Ministry's provisional press-service in the North Caucasus, field-engineers of the interior troops had detected and successfully defused a land mine hidden in a sewerage duct near the Raduga (Rainbow) cinema in Grozny. One more land mine planted in the Chechen capital was defused at the crossroads of the Zhukovsky and Tsiolkovsky streets. The third land mine supplied with an electrical detonator was spotted and subsequently liquidated on the curb of the Petropavlovsky highway in Grozny. In addition, a pressure-type land mine was detected near the village of Avtury. Field engineers also spotted a remote-controlled mine on the side of a road near the town of Alkhan-Yurt. All in all, field engineers of the interior troops detected and disposed of 6 explosive devices, 8 mines, 15 hand grenades and nearly 3 kg of the hexogen-based explosives over the past 24 hours. In the course of the search and patrol operations carried out by the interior troops the latter detected and destroyed 20 illegal mini oil-refineries as well as one fully equipped sniper's position.
