Russian-Georgian relationships still being discussed in Tbilisi

Georgian Defense Minister David Tevzadze has invited his Russian counterpart Sergey Ivanov to visit Tbilisi.

The story of American servicemen coming to Georgia, albeit gradually vanishing from front pages of local media, is still an object of vivid discussions in the streets. The American military have both supporters and opponents among Tbilisi residents. Arguments cited by both parties are quite similar.

A local resident: "We should take this easy. Help is always good."

Another local: "Frnakly, I donїt' like it. It's our country, and we should resolve everything on our own."

Many understand Russia's anxiety about American G.I.'s coming to Georgia.

A local: "We can't ignore the Russian factor. Every sensible person realizes there will be frustration on the Russian part, but I don't think Georgian government would dare aggravate the situation."
