Taliban Opposition Intends To Found Supreme Council Of National Unity

The Taliban opposition forces intend to found a supreme council of national unity, Indian radio quoted Hadayat Amin, special envoy of Former King of Afghanistan Zahir Shah, as saying in Islamabad. Mr. Amin stressed that the council is to fill the political vacuum immediately after the Taliban is defeated and forced out of the political arena. Delhi also does not rule out the possibility that the political weight of the former Afghan king is going to grow. According to Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh, the Indian government continues to stay in contact with Zahir Shah.
