Abkhaz President Calls Russia To Ward Off Caucasian War

President Vladislav Ardzinba of Abkhazia, self-proclaimed republic in Georgia, appealed to Russia for urgent efforts to prevent another Caucasian war. He forwarded a written message to President Vladimir Putin after a Chechen militant force penetrated Abkhazia--allegedly, on Georgian official bidding. President Ardzinba describes Georgian policies as "state terrorism". As principal guarantor of Caucasian peace and stability, Russia ought to call the UN Security Council to pass a resolution denouncing Georgian terrorism, he adds.
