Six Corpses Of Kursk Sailors Retrieved

Six corpses of the Kursk crewmen have been already retrieved from the 9th compartment of the submarine, Leonid Troshin, the Chief of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, reported on Friday. Two bodies were found in the morning, one more corpse - last night, and the rest were found earlier. According to Vladimir Ustinov, the Russian Prosecutor General, three compartments of the Kursk nuclear submarine were examined on Thursday. No bodies were found in the 8th and 7th compartments. Experts are currently continuing to examine the ninth compartment. Divers who went deeper into the compartment have confirmed that there were more corpses inside. Twelve dead sailors were salvaged from the sub in the course of the submarine operation in autumn 2000. The note found in the uniform jacket of Lieutenant-Commander Dmitry Kolesnikov, reads that there were 23 sailors in the 9th compartment after the shipwreck.
