Bulgarian maritime administration officials and insurers are to come Sunday to Novorossiisk, a Russian port on the Black Sea coast, the scene of accident with the Khan Asparukh tanker. The Bulgarian side has thanked the Russian general consulate in Varna for its prompt issue of visas introduced unilaterally by Sofia from October 1 this year. Early in the morning last Saturday, an explosion followed by fire affecting some people broke out on board the Khan Asparukh tanker in the port of Novorossiisk. The crew quenched the fire blamed on technical defects. This is the second accident with Bulgarian tankers this year, after the Mesta ship was set ablaze several months ago in the Rumanian port of Constanta.
