Serbia's Vice-premier Calls Unmik To Confirm Yugoslav Territorial Integrity

The UNMIK, United Nations civil mission to Kosovo, would do wise to confirm Yugoslav sovereignty and territorial integrity in the interests of peace and stability in that part of Europe, Nebojsa Covic, Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the coordination centre for Kosovo and Metohija, said in an interview with the newspaper Blitz. He deems it necessary to work out patterns for "reasonable and practicable partnership" of Yugoslavia and the UNMIK for prompt regional crisis settlement proceeding from a document which will blueprint that permanent and smoothly arranged partnership to cope with Kosovo-related problems. The situation demands to establish a working body for a wide range of problems concerning both Yugoslavia and the mission, with the UN envoy entitled to final decision-making. Otherwise, the UNMIK will face numerous problems quite soon after a Kosovo parliamentary election of November 17, warned Mr. Covic. As it was announced in Belgrade, the republican Vice-Premier will take part in expert team debates on extra guarantees for ethnic Serbs in Kosovo, which will encourage them to go to the polls.
