Russian Border-Guards Prevent Armed Smugglers From Crossing Tajik Border

Russian border-guards have prevented armed smugglers from crossing the Tajik-Afghan border. According to the Russian border guards' press service, the incident took place on Wednesday at a stretch of the border guarded by the Moskovsky detachment. At noon a border patrol detected four armed smugglers who had crossed the frontier with three horses. The intruders used armed resistance when border-guards were trying to detain them. After a skirmish the smugglers gave up their horses with the load and hid in the reeds. 3 sacks of heroin with a total weight of 81 kg and a Kalashnikov rifle with 19 cartridges were found at the scene. According to the press-service, the Russian border guards at the Tajik-Afghan border have confiscated over 2,500 kg of narcotics (including over 2,300 kg of heroin) since the beginning of the year.
