Mongolia Will Not Participate In Forthcoming UN Peace-Keeping Mission In Afghanistan

Mongolia will not participate in the forthcoming UN peace-keeping mission in Afghanistan, Defence Minister of Mongolia Gurragcha told RIA Novosti on Friday. According to him, at the present time the Mongolian military have the status of observers in the UN peace-keeping forces, which does not envisage their direct participation in military operations. This notwithstanding, as the Minister noted, active preparation of a Mongolian peace-keeping sub-unit and provision of it with technical equipment are under way in the country's armed forces.
