Talib Leaders Trying To Fight Desertion

The families of Talib militants were taken hostage in Kandahar on orders from the Taliban's leaders and those of the Al Qaida organization. This decision apparently aims to prevent desertion. This was disclosed today by a Saudi Arabian newspaper, which refers to refugees from Kandahar. According to the paper, hundreds of women and children have been placed inside three city blocks under heavy guard. Meanwhile, their fathers and husbands were forced to pledge on the Koran that they won't surrender to the enemy. The refugees also said that the Talibs had forcibly mobilized all religious-school students in Kandahar, regardless of their nationality and citizenship.
