Two Black Boxes Of The Swiss Plane Crashed Near Zurich Found

The two black boxes of the Swiss Crossair airline plane which crashed last night on the approaches to Zurich have been found. Dozens of policemen, firemen and rescuers are working on the site of the catastrophe. In the opinion of experts, "an extraordinary situation could have emerged because the plane was flying too low" on the approaches to Zurich. The crashed RJ-100 Avro Jumbolino was put into service in August 1996. Both of its pilots are Swiss, in recent information. The list of passengers is being ascertained. It is only known that American singer Melanie Thornton was on board. Crossair chief executive Andre Dose said he was shocked by the catastrophe, which has happened at a time when his airline is taking over from the bankrupt Swissair. In preliminary information, the crash killed ten and wounded nine. The catastrophe took place seven minutes before the calculated time of landing at the Zurich airport. The four-engined Jumbolino was making a regular Berlin-Zurich flight with 5 crew and 28 passengers aboard. The crash happened after midnight in complicated weather conditions. The plane fell on a forest and broke into three. The central part of its fuselage is fully destroyed. Zurich police representative Hans Baltensberger does not rule out that "some of the passengers in a state of shock are walking around the woods". The site of the catastrophe has been roped off and is being combed through by the police.
