A New Military Commandant Appointed In Argun, Chechnya

Under the order of the Russian Defence Minister, a new military commandant has been appointed in the town of Argun, Chechnya. The former commandant, Colonel Nikolai Sidorenko, has been dismissed from his post after the results were summed up of the recent special operation which the Russian federal forces conducted in that town, RIA Novosti was told in the central military commandant's office in Chechnya. The top officers of the Russian Defence Ministry accused the former commandant of this third largest city in Chechnya of negligence due to which Chechen militants had penetrated the town. According to the official data, in the course of this operation in Argun, which was going on since the middle of December, the federal forces had destroyed ninety-two militants.
