Experts Rule Out Terror Act On Yamburg-yelets Gas-main

Russian State Technical Surveillance Committee special commission that came to find causes of a disaster on the Yamburg-Yelets gas-main in the Tambov region (Central Russia) rules out any possibility of an act of terrorism, reported the local emergencies department Tuesday. According to preliminary conclusions of the commission, the cause of a break in a pipe 142 cm in diameter was of a technological character - metal fatigue or a hidden defect of the metal. The explosion of the Yamburg-Yelets gas-main took place January 11 night 20 km to the north from the town of Morshansk (Tambov region). Thanks to fast action of the duty shift of the Morshansk department of gas-mains, restoration work lasted a bit more than 24 hours. The damage caused to ecology is minimal. The final conclusions of the commission will be made after an expertise at a Moscow institute, where metal samples have been sent to.
