9,000 tons of foodstuffs delivered to Afghanistan with Russia's participation

As many as 9,000 tons of foodstuffs were delivered to Afghanistan with Russia's involvement within the framework of the international humanitarian operation, a representative of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations informed RIA Novosti.

Foodstuffs were delivered from the warehouses of the UN global food programme in the city of Osh, Kirghizia. The last two Russian motor-convoys with 304 tons of wheat have crossed the Tajik-Afghan border Thursday and are heading for Afghanistan's north. Kirghizia and Great Britain were involved in the operation along with Russia and Tajikistan.

The second stage of the international operation is tentatively scheduled for March. Another 7,000 tons of foodstuffs are planned to be delivered to Afghanistan.
