Al Qaeda Militants Encaved In Tora Bora Capitulate

Al-Qaeda militants based in the region of Tora Bora (the eastern tip of the mountain chain Spin Ghar in the Nangarhar province, bordering on Pakistan) have capitulated. Field commander Mohammad Zaman in charge of one of the three Pashtu detachments, on the offensive here since December 5, said this to journalists on Tuesday. To him, militants will begin to surrender arms at 08:00, local time, on Wednesday morning. "They will have to go out of the caves, descend from the mountains and lay down their weapons", said Zaman. He did not disclose terms for capitulation. On Tuesday the Pashtu tribal corps, numbering up to 3,000 fighters under the command of Zaman, Hazrat Ali and Zahir, wholly occupied Tora Bora 40 kilometers south of Jalalabad, where the Al-Qaeda militants were.
