Four Russian Servicemen Die In Explosion

The United Group of Forces (OGV) in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti on Friday that four Russian servicemen had been killed and six wounded after a remote controlled landmine was detonated near the village of Petrovpavlosk in Chechnya's Grozny region. The highly powerful device exploded near a roadside cafe as an armoured column passed. The Grozny regional administration told RIA Novosti that two women, who were near the road at the moment of the attack, had also been seriously wounded. A local police patrol came under fire from automatic weapons and grenade launchers in the Komarovo Nadterechny region on Thursday night. One officer was killed by unidentified assailants, while another three were wounded. According to the OGV, militants have carried out two explosions and shot at check points and federal forces patrols ten times in the last 24 hours. Fire was returned on every occasion.
