Bahrain Becomes Second Arab Country To Send Troops To Afghanistan

Bahrain will be a second Arab country after Jordan to have decided to send its forces to Afghanistan. A circulated governmental statement runs that this step indicates to Bahrain's resolve to join the fight against international terrorism. Bahrain will send its frigate Bans Sabah carrying 240 servicemen to accompany ships with humanitarian cargoes for Afghanistan. The war ship of Bahrain will set off next week. Rashid bin Abdallah al-Halifa, Chief of the General Staff of the Bahraini Armed Forces, said Saturday that the major task facing the Bahraini military contingent is to render assistance in the humanitarian mission and in stabilising the situation in Afghanistan.
