More terrorists surrender to federal authorities in Chechnya

In Chechnya four terrorists from illegal armed formations surrendered on their own accord.

Yesterday 4 men - 17-32-year-old citizens of Gudermes and Nozhai-Yurtovsky districts, on their own accord turned to militia officers 2 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 3 200-gram TNT charges, an antipersonnel mine MON-50, electric detonator, grenade projector and 2 grenades, the Russian Ministry of the Interior disclosed on Wednesday.

Moreover, the former members of the illegal armed formations announced their intention not to fight against Federal Forces in the future. At present, they are being checked up for their possible involvement in grave crimes.

All in all, over the past 24 hours militia officers conducted 4 search operations and prophylactic measures in Grozny, Argun, Gudermes and Naur districts of Chechnya. Over 23,400 citizens and 21,700 cars have been checked and inspected in the living sector, on highways and at checkpoints. 159 administrative crimes have been detected.

Weapons, including a grenade projector, ammo, mines and explosives, have been confiscated in the course of the inspecting measures.

Three illegal mini oil-refineries and three self-made explosive devices have been destroyed.
