Russian officials inspecting restoration works in Chechnya

The restoration works in Chechnya are being inspected by Chairman of the Russian State Construction Committee Nikolai Koshman and Russian Minister for Restoration of Chechnya Stanislav Ilyasov. They are visiting facilities in Grozny that are under reconstruction.

On Monday Koshman and Ilyasov accompanied by chairman of the republic's government Mikhail Babich visited a new settlement in the Oktyabrsky district of Grozny that is being built for those who suffered in the flood. 100 ready-built panel houses are being assembled on specially allocated sites. These houses will be inhabited before the end of the year.

The officials also examined the process of restoration in three transitional settlements in the Leninsky district. They are built for temporarily displaced people returning from Ingushetia.

"My major demand is that people, including the temporarily displaced ones, be provided with heat and water," Koshman pointed out.

It is his first trip to Chechnya in the new capacity, Koshman told journalists. He had come to the republic to study the process of restoration works, he said. In two weeks at the latest he will bring his proposals and observations for discussion, he added.
