A big terrorist act prevented in Chechnya

The Russian federal forces have prevented a terrorist act in Chechnya which had to be performed by a suicide terrorist, RIA Novosti was told in the regional headquarters of the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus.

The day before a base of the militants was destroyed in the Achkhoi-Martan district of Chechnya. The servicemen found at that base weapons, ammunition, components for explosive devices and also a powerful landmine ready for use. According to the operational data, that landmine was to be used by a suicide terrorist at a meeting of civilians outside the complex of the government buildings in Grozny. According to the reports of the Russian special services, the order to make large-scale provocations in the inhabited areas of Chechnya was given by the leader of the separatists, Aslan Maskhadov.

In connection with this, the regional headquarters addressed the local inhabitants with a request to report to the authorities beforehand about any mass actions which are being planned.
