The governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said that Russian forces stationed on the Kinburn Peninsula blocked maritime commercial ports of Ukraine's Mykolaiv region.
"The departure of ships from Mykolaiv ports, which remain under enemy control, is being blocked by our forces from the Kinburn Peninsula,” Vladimir Saldo, Governor of the Kherson Region said.
According to Saldo, access from the Dnipro and Southern Bug Rivers to the Dnipro-Bug Estuary and further to the Black Sea remains blocked for vessels belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
In March, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a cargo ship docked in the port of Odesa. The missile strike caused the ship to catch fire.
Serhii Bratchuk, head of the public council under the regional military administration, said the missile struck the MJ Pinar cargo ship at 8:17 p.m.. Preliminary reports indicate that four crew members were killed, and another sailor was injured.
Ukrainian media reported that the ship, sailing under the flag of Barbados, was meant to transport wheat to Algeria. However, Ukraine allegedly uses such vessels to transport military and other aid.
