Russian Black Sea Fleet gains total superiority of the Sea of Azov

The Russian Black Sea Fleet has gained superiority in the Sea of Azov and established control over the northwestern part of the Black Sea during the special operation in Ukraine, the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Igor Osipov said, Interfax reports.

"Ships and fleet aviation destroy critical enemy targets with long-range precision weapons and support offensive operations of the ground group of forces,” Osipov said.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Volodymyr Gavrilov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) intended to destroy all of Russia's Black Sea Fleet with the help of Western weapons and recapture Crimea.

According to him, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine started "cleansing" the Black Sea after the Russian military left Snake Island.
