Prisoner who escaped from Kazakh penitentiary arrested in Chechnya

A prisoner who escaped from a Kazakh penitentiary has been arrested in Chechnya.

According to the republican law-enforcement bodies, as a result of a search operation, which was carried out the other day, police officers arrested a certain Musaitov. In 1998, he escaped from a penitentiary in Kazakhstan where he was serving time for a murder and was subsequently put on the federal wanted list.

Over the past 24 hours, police officers have carried out four search and pre-emptive operations. As a result, they confiscated a rocket launcher, an assault rifle, a hunter rifle, a sawn-off gun, 226 rocket launcher rounds, 40 shells, 8 mines, 7 grenades, 400g of various explosive agents and more than 16,000 various calibre bullets.

One illegal oil refinery has been destroyed.

More than 23,000 people and 15,000 vehicles have been checked, about 136 administrative offences prevented.
