Daghestan police checkpoint fired at from Chechen side

On Thursday morning unidentified people fired at the Tukhcharsky checkpoint in the section of the Daghestan-Chechen administration border in the Novolaksky district from the Chechen side.

Abdulmanap Musayev, head of the press-service of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Daghestan reported that the police checkpoint was fired at from automatic small arms and grenade launchers from a forest tract near the village of Galayty, Nozhai-Yurt district of Chechnya. Reply shots were fired from the checkpoint. The exchange of fire lasted 10 minutes, no victims were reported among the police duty detail.

Musayev recalled that forces of the republic's Interior Ministry have toughened the regime of service along the entire administrative border with Chechnya for the purpose of cutting short any attempt by subversive and terrorist groups and separate militants to cross over to the territory of Daghestan.
