Activity of another bandit group cut short in Chechnya

In Chechnya the activity of a group of bandits who specialized in murders of leaders of district and settlement administrations, as well as officers of law-enforcement bodies of the republic has been cut short, reported Nikolai Kostyuchenko, prosecutor of Chechnya.

Kostyuchenko said that the criminal group included 7 people, all of whom were detained, and all of whom are local people. The detained, noted Kostyuchenko, are involved in "the murders of representatives of the administrations of the Achkhoi-Martan district, the villages of Roshni-Chu and Alkhan-Kala."

Apart from that, it has been established during the investigation that the detained men had committed other grave crimes on the territory of the republic at different times, including attacks on police officers and explosions of armoured equipment of federal forces.

At present, the prosecutor's office is preparing material on the case to be handed over to court, said Kostyuchenko.

He also said that of late law-enforcement bodies in Grozny arrested 45 people suspected of committing various crimes.
