A terrorist suspected of being involved in sabotage attacks and the murders of peaceful citizens has been apprehended by police in the Zavodskoi region of Grozny.
The HQ for the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus announced on Tuesday that the Grozny resident had been detained by Interior Ministry officers from the southern federal district and members of the department for the fight against organised crime.
A preliminary investigation has shown that the detained man was part of a gang led by Aslan Dokhtayev and used his own car to make illegal arms deliveries to militants. He also took part in an armed robbery, while a member of Ruslan Elmurzayev's gang, targeting a Grozny resident.
The case materials have been handed over to Chechnya's prosecutor's office. An investigation is currently underway to establish the suspect's complicity in other crimes and the identities of his accomplices.
