OSCE mission scared to monitor Lugansk

Representatives of the OSCE mission announced that the mission was not going to continue the monitoring of the situation in the zone of responsibility around Lugansk, due to the difficulty to ensure security.

A group of observers of the special monitoring mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has stopped monitoring the situation in Lugansk. This is stated in the latest report from the mission, released to the media.

"In Lugansk, the situation remains tense. Due to security measures, the special monitoring mission does not monitor the area," the report said.

As for Donetsk, the report indicates that there are no significant changes with security situation. "The mission collects additional information about the situation in Slavyansk through telephone contacts with constant companions in the city, interviews with journalists, who returned from there, and also analyzes latest photographs from the region," the report said.

For the time being, there is still no connection with two groups of OSCE observers who were monitoring the situation in eastern regions of Ukraine. The first group of observers - four people - disappeared on May 26 in the Donetsk region. The contact with the second group, also consisting of four people,  was lost in the evening on May 29, when they were at a checkpoint in the area of the town of Severodonetsk, the Lugansk region.
