Ukrainian police find Maidan arms suppliers

Law enforcement officers of Kiev detained a group of people, who supposedly supplied weapons to the Maidan camp and were engaged in kidnappings. All participants of the organized criminal group and its leader (a participant of Euro Maidan) were arrested. The name the criminals' leader has not been disclosed.

Law enforcers established that the perpetrators were supplying weapons to those participating in protests. The police also said that they found the armory, which was arranged in the building that opposition captured in Kiev - City Hall and the House of Trade Unions. The head of the Interior Ministry in Kiev ensured that the protesters would not able to use the weapons freely.

During the detention, police officers seized seven firearms, including two Kalashnikov rifles.

Earlier, Maidan campers stated that the police had killed at least five activists. The Interior Ministry refuted the information saying that Berkut fighters did not use bullets that killed the protesters.

Meanwhile, the situation in Ukrainian regions has been getting more and more intense as well. Opposition has recently stormed the administration of the Chernovitsky region. On January 24, protesters seized the administration of Ivano-Frankovsky region. On January 23, opposition managed to occupy administrative buildings in Lviv, Rivne and Ternopil. Activists also tried to storm regional administrations in Zhytomyr, Lutsk and Poltava.
