Troops to storm protesters in Kiev

The situation in the center of Ukraine's capital of Kiev, on Grushevsky Street, in the area of governmental quarters, became extremely intense today, January 22. In response to another attack from extremist militants, Ukrainian commandos stormed the barricades and drove the rioters out from the street. Meanwhile, the  Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the death of two people. The area of clashes is growing, radicals set car tires on fire; the government quarters of Kiev is shrouded in black smoke, cafes and shops close urgently.

Fighters of Berkut special unit stormed the barricades quickly. Those, who considered themselves the masters of Maidan for three days, abandoned their positions and retreated.

There are wounded on both sides of the conflict. The situation looks like a real war. The sides even take breaks to count the losses, take away the injured and regroup.

"We share the constitutional right of our people for peaceful protests and demonstrations. But don't you agree that the situations, when they throw Molotov cocktails at riot police, can not be regarded as peaceful protests. The footage that showed people throwing burning mixture at police shocked everyone. Officers suffered severe burns and were hospitalized. When they throw stones at police and pogrom stores - are they peaceful protests?" Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said.
