Mass protests in several Brazilian cities have developed into riots. In the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, more than 50,000 people gathered for the demonstration.

They were protesting high prices, social, political corruption and excessive spending on large sports events. The action was quiet until a group of young people started to break through police cordons to the stadium, where a football match between Brazil and Uruguay was taking place.

In response to aggression on the part of protesters, riot police used tear gas and grenades. As a result of the clashes, 24 people were arrested. Several people were injured. Demonstrations rolled across the country in almost 20 cities, including the capital, where clashes with police took place directly in front of the parliament.
