A fire occurred last night in the official residence of the President of Latvia, the Riga Castle.

The fire in the castle broke out late Thursday at around 22.20 local time. All rescue and emergency services were involved in the operation to extinguish the fire. The fire was localized on Friday morning, at 3.53 a.m.

Reportedly, the fire destroyed more than 3.2 thousand square meters of the building. The roof of the castle suffered from the fire most. In connection with the fire, the President of Latvia will temporarily work in the House of Blackheads in Riga.
