Europe is suffering from severe floods caused by torrential rains. The disaster has spread to Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland.

In Germany, more than three thousand people have been evacuated. Several communities of Thuringia and Bavaria have received about 100 mm of rain, school classes had to be canceled.

Rivers overflow their banks and flood highways and railways. The flood in Austria has already led to casualties. Two people are missing. Hundreds of people were evacuated.

The country forms voluntary rescue teams. The army also takes part in the struggle against the disaster.

According to weather forecasts, rains will continue, which may seriously complicate the situation in the region. If it does not stop raining, the catastrophic consequences of the floods of 2002 may reoccur.
