Micro twister strikes Russia's Tula, 16 hurt

 

Residents of the town of Efremov, near Tula, central Russia, experienced a highly unusual natural disaster for this region. A strong hurricane tore off roofs and felled trees in the town. Regional EMERCOM called the natural phenomenon "strong gusts of wind" whereas local people said that it was a twister. Videos from the scene prove that it was more than just "strong gusts of wind."

The hurricane and hail has hurt 16 people (three of them are children). The people received slight injuries, but one person had to be hospitalized.

As for the material damage, more than 200 buildings have been damaged. As many as 179 of them are residential buildings (shattered windows, damaged roofs). In addition, the hurricane has damaged the roofs of seven socially important facilities - five secondary educational institutions and two kindergartens.

The hurricane has damaged 50 trees, 15 electric poles, 50 vehicles, three schools and two kindergartens.

The micro-twister has left about 1,500 people without electricity, Interfax reports. Power supplies of social objects have been restored.
