Georgia fiercely struggles against homosexuals

Representatives of sexual minorities of Georgia, who took to the streets of the city of Tbilisi to participate in a gay parade, had to flee for safety. At first, representatives of the Georgian LGBT movement wanted to gather on Rustaveli Avenue, near the former parliament building, but then changed the location to Liberty Square. However, the activists did not receive the very long-awaited liberty.

There were not very many people, who came to participate in the gay pride parade. Several dozens of them came, but the number of their opponents was enough to arrange a real fight. Among the opponents of the action, there were representatives of the Orthodox clergy and various public organizations.

The attempt of the participants of the gay parade to change the location of the march and avoid clashes with their heterosexual opponents failed. Even the police could not help. The ardent supporters of traditional moral values ​​broke through the cordon and arranged a massive fight.

The incident occurred on May 17^th, when the whole world was celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia. In Tbilisi, however, this day is a day of struggle against homosexuals, rather than homophobia.
