North Korea threatens South with final destruction

After South Korea warned its northern neighbor of a possible strike in case of a threat, North Korean diplomat Jon Yong Ryong said at a UN meeting: "As the saying goes, a new-born puppy knows no fear of a tiger. South Korea's erratic behavior would only herald its final destruction."

The comment from the Nkorean diplomat caused a storm of criticism from diplomats of other countries. Joanne Adamson of Britain called the tone of Jon Yong Ryong "completely inappropriate." "It cannot be allowed that we have expressions which refer to the possible destruction of U.N. member states," she said.

Pyongyang previously explained that the goal of nuclear tests was to strengthen its defense system against the hostile U.S.. Jon added that North Korea was showing "maximum restraint," whereas the hostility of the United States "will not leave the country another choice other than to conduct more tests."
