A shooting took place Friday, December 14th, at a school in the U.S. city of Newtown (Conn.), located 130 km north-east of New York City. The consequences of the shooting turned out to be far more tragic than it seemed at first from first news reports.
The gunman has killed 27 people, including 18 children - elementary school students.
According to local media, there were two gunmen. One of them died on the spot. Police are looking for the second one. Two guns were found at the crime scene.
The incident occurred at around 10:00 local time. As many as 625 children study at that school. All schools and kindergartens of the city were closed.
No specific details have been reported on what exactly happened at school. According to witnesses, events are still developing. Someone saw a child with a bloody face coming out of the building.
The parents of students told WVIT television channel, that the school head master had been killed. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.
