Former prosecutor shot dead while hunting

The accident occurred to a former prosecutor of Yekaterinburg during hunting. Vyacheslav Levin was accidentally shot by his partner, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said. It happened on October 26, when Levin and a company of his acquaintances were hunting in the Turin district of the Sverdlovsk region.

The former prosecutor died from an accidental bullet shot by his partner as the men were hunting. The bullet hit the former official in the head.

A criminal case was filed against the 54-year-old local businessman, who made the fatal shot. He is suspected of having committed an offense under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code  - "Causing Death by Negligence". It provides for a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison.

The head of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Porunov , City Manager Alexander Yacob, the City Duma and city administration expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, News Agency API reports.

A similar incident occurred on October 16, when a 42-year-old resident of the Sharinsky district of the Kostroma region shot his friend while hunting. The man heard a noise in the bushes, which was typical for the wild boar. He pulled the trigger in a hope to kill an animal. However, instead of the wild boar, the man shot his friend, who was killed on the spot.
