Anti-American riots in Egypt's Cairo continue

The mass riots caused by the release of the film about Prophet Muhammad continue in the Egyptian capital for two days already. Police try to calm the protesters, but the latter throw Molotov cocktails in response. Over 13 people were injured in the clashes.

The protesters pelted the U.S. Embassy with stones, burned two police trucks and a police car. The riot police had to interfere to stop the pogroms. Six police officers were slightly injured in the clashes.

The riots near the U.S. embassy in Cairo began on 11 September, after "Innocence of Islam" documentary was premiered on the world wide web. The authors of the film presented Prophet Muhammad in a bad light. The next day, demonstrators tore the American flag off the embassy building, and replaced it with another one saying: "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his Prophet."

Meanwhile, the "Muslim Brotherhood" movement urged its supporters to go out to massive demonstrations against the screening of the film about Prophet Muhammad on September 14, after Friday prayers.

The same film angered the residents of Libya.  In the city of Benghazi, protesters fired grenades at the U.S. consulate and then burned the building. As a result, the American ambassador and three diplomats were killed.
