Akhmed Zakayev's bodyguard killed with other gunmen in Georgia

Eleven militants were killed near the Georgian-Russian border in a special operation. The bodyguard of Chechen separatist leader Akhmed Zakayev - Dukvakha Dushuyev (Doshuyev) was among the killed.

On Monday, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said that 7 of 11 militants killed in late August at the border with Russia had been identified. They are two Georgians and five Russians. According to GTimes, the killed Georgians were Aslan Margoshvili and Bagautdin Kavtarashvili  - they were residents of Kakheti villages.

The other terrorists, contrary to a number of statements from Georgia, had no relation to Dagestan. For example, Dukvakha Doshuyev, Salam Zaurbekov and Musa Aduyev were natives of Chechnya. Dzhabrail Khashiyev was an Ingush. Another man, 26-year-old Bagauddin Bagakashvili, was born and raised in Chechnya, but he had relatives in Pankisi. The others, apparently, also had something to do with Georgia via Pankisi.

According to Kommersant, 44-year-old Dukvakha Doshuyev was the most influential figure among the killed terrorists. He took part in the first Chechen war and was the bodyguard of then-prominent Chechen warlord Akhmed Zakayev, who is now hiding in London. In the early 2000's, Dushuyev was captured by federal forces, but was later pardoned.
